F1 Boston’s Adult Winter Sprint League Round 4 Report

 

Braintree, MA (February 28, 2013) – Round four of F1 Boston’s Adult Winter Sprint League took place this week and, with only two rounds left, bragging rights are up for grabs in the standings.  Each of the Sprint League’s six rounds feature a practice session, followed by four 30-lap races with each driver’s three best races scored for the round – points from the best five rounds count towards a season finale Championship Race.  The fourth round winners: John Chetwynd in heavyweight and Steve Hathaway in lightweight.  Here’s a look at the highlights:

 

Heavyweight Division

John Chetwynd won his first round of the season scoring 41 points to tie for the highest one-round point total of the season 41.  He won his final two heats, took second in heat #1 and grabbed a fast lap – with 120 points, Chetwynd moves into third place in the season standings.  Chris Tholke has his best round of the season, scoring 33 points for second place by winning his final, placing third and fourth in the others plus fast lap.  Robert Bain was third, grabbing 30 points by winning his first heat, taking third and fifth in the others – he remains atop the standings with 142 points, nine better than the field. Viken Mardirossian was next with 28 points, placing second in his middle heat and fourth in the others.  With 133 points, Mardirossian moves into second place for the season.  David Olbrych earned 24 points and fifth place highlighted by taking second in his final and fifth in heat #1 – he’s fifth in the standings with 77 points.  Ronald LeDuc, idle in round four, drops to fourth in the standings with 106 points. 

 

Lightweight Division

In lightweight Steve Hathaway won a second consecutive round – and his third of the season – earning 40 points by winning his final two heats and placing second in heat #1. With 156 points, Hathaway has a 19-point cushion in the standings.  Antonio Brito, Jr. took second with 37 points powered by wining his first and final, placing fourth in heat #2 and a fast lap – with 137 points he remains second for the season.  Chris Catalano was third, placing third in the final two heats and fourth in his first to earn 29 points and remain third in the standings with 109 points.  Nathan Hedberg was next with 27 points highlighted by placing third in his first heat, second in the final plus a fast lap.  With 97 points, Hedberg is fifth in the standings, just a point out of the fourth spot. Daskowski rounded out the top five with 24 points, finishing third, fourth and fifth in his heats.  Ryan Maheu (23 points in the round) is fourth for the season with 98 points.

 

Round five of the Sprint League is slated for March 11th.  Here are standings after four rounds:
