Dylan Amerena Takes Top Honors with 1-Point Victory

Braintree, Ma (March 8, 2013) – Round 5 of F1 Boston’s Adult Open Racing Series was held on Monday and it featured some very close, and very entertaining, racing.  The top five competitors separated by just three points, with Dylan Amerena earning a one-point victory. The Open Racing Series consists of six stand-alone rounds, each featuring a 10-lap practice session followed by three 30-lap races.  The large round 5 field included 37 competitors, running in four groups. Here’s a look at the highlights:

Amerena, competing in Group 4, earned the victory with consistently strong racing.  He took second in the first and final heats, third in heat #2, plus two fast laps to score 36 points.  Group 2’s Sean Abbate and Group 4’s Lenny Hong were both just a point back at 35.  Abbate got the second-place nod determined by fast laps – he placed second in the first two heats, third in the final and grabbed a fast lap. Hong won his first two heats, placed fifth in the final, plus a fast lap to land third. Fourth and fifth place were also decided by a fast lap, with Group 1’s Guiherme Duerte and David Olbrych for Group 3 each earning 34 points.  Duerte took the fast lap battle to claim fourth place – he won the middle heat and took third place in the others.  Olbrych took second in the final two heats and third in his first run to land fifth.

Round 6 is slated for Monday, March 18th. Here’s a look at the top 10 finishers of Round 5:
